A Clubhouse

People sitting in a circle, hands clasped, suggesting a support group meeting.

An Opportunity for More Meetings, More Chairs, More Recovery

With so many groups already active in the area, the time feels right for Evergreen to establish a clubhouse. It would create a true basecamp for recovery, a place where individuals can come to connect, find support, and simply talk with another recovering alcoholic or addict.

A dedicated clubhouse would also create opportunities to expand the meeting schedule within the community. It could host additional Al-Anon meetings, create space for teens and young adults, and even support something as impactful as a daily noon meeting. That may sound ambitious, but it is absolutely within reach.

More than anything, the clubhouse would be a place to build community.  A consistent, welcoming gathering space for those in recovery and a resource for anyone still struggling to find a solution.

What this could look like?

How This Got Started

The truth is, this idea did not begin with us. Others in the Evergreen recovery community have talked about the possibility of a clubhouse before. This site is simply intended to help continue that conversation and bring people together to explore whether now is the right time to establish a dedicated clubhouse in Evergreen.

We believe the need is real. We also believe the community may be ready. With enough sobriety, shared commitment, and the right nonprofit structure in place, it is reasonable to believe that Evergreen Sobriety Club could raise the capital needed to support startup costs and first-year operations.

Our Saturday morning Men’s Group at SOS routinely welcomes 50+ men, and some mornings it is standing room only.  With 30+ meetings taking place throughout the week across the community, there appears to be a strong foundation of support for a clubhouse that could serve both those already in recovery and those still searching for help.

Mid-Size Club (Most Common)

Profile

A likely model for Evergreen Sobriety Club would be a mid-size clubhouse designed to support meetings throughout the day, including morning, noon, and evening gatherings, along with speaker meetings and opportunities for fellowship. Over time, the clubhouse could also create space for Al-Anon and other recovery-support gatherings that align with the Club’s mission.

The vision is for a clubhouse that could be open seven days a week, supported primarily through volunteer service and designed to offer a consistent, welcoming recovery-centered environment.

Typical Size:

Based on early planning, a clubhouse would likely require between 3,000 and 5,000 square feet, depending on the final location, operating model, and the level of support received from participating groups and the broader community.

As part of the process, groups interested in using the clubhouse would ultimately determine their participation through their own group conscience. Those commitments, along with broader fundraising support, would help shape the final operating budget and facility plan.

Estimated Needs and Uses:

A larger clubhouse model of roughly 5,000 square feet could include:

  • a large meeting room capable of hosting 60+ participants
  • a smaller meeting room for 30+ person gatherings
  • a fellowship and lounge area for connection and one-on-one conversations between sponsors and sponsees
  • an office and storage area
  • restrooms
  • a coffee and literature counter

A smaller clubhouse model of roughly 3,000 square feet could still provide one main meeting room, a smaller support space, and a welcoming fellowship area that allows the Club to launch in a practical and sustainable way.

Whatever the final footprint, the goal would remain the same: to create a safe, welcoming, and lasting home for unity, service, and recovery in Evergreen.
