With so much wisdom and long-term sobriety, Evergreen Sobriety will be founded and structured on the principles of our founders. We believe that having a clubhouse structure will create opportunities for those still struggling to find a solution through support groups when they are ready.
That is the big question. With 30+ meetings scheduled throughout the week, there seems to be a clear need for a club house in our community. This question should be circulated in each group, with the GSR joining us to learn more.
We believe the ideal clubhouse structure would be between 3,000-5,000 square feet to accommodate one large or two meeting rooms for simultaneous support groups, along with space for one-on-ones (Sponsor/Sponsee), an office, restrooms, and storage.
We conducted a quick search for available spaces and discovered several potential locations, including the retail area next to Big R, the former Wendy's, and office space near Buchanan. These sites could serve as examples of a clubhouse for Evergreen Sobriety and various groups.
Evergreen Sobriety, Inc. would be a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) governed by an elected board and managed using a structure, similar to the autonomous format followed by club houses across the country.
Once we know how many groups would participate in the clubhouse, we would create a budget to identify how much money would be raised through the 7th Tradition to support operating expenses. We would then begin to have conversations with donors about start-up costs and raise tax-deductible capital or donations for the idea.
This is the best part of our clubhouse ; we can expand the types of support groups and meeting times. This flexibility will allow for more gatherings centered around the principles of AA, Al-Anon, and Alateen, ultimately providing more opportunities for those still struggling with their journey toward Sobriety.
